Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 28: In a significant step towards holistic student development, the College of Nursing, AIIMS Jammu successfully organized a 70-lecture series focused on Personality Development, Language Proficiency (English and Hindi), and Communication Skills for its B.Sc (Hons) Nursing students. The initiative aimed to equip future healthcare professionals with crucial soft skills essential for today's dynamic and patient-centered healthcare environment. The sessions were delivered by Rajesh Rathore, Principal of JK Public School, Jammu, a seasoned educationist known for his engaging and practical approach to teaching. Using interactive discussions, real-life examples, and experiential learning techniques, Rathore motivated students to build confidence, develop effective communication strategies, and unlock their leadership potential beyond academic knowledge. While pursuing their core subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Nursing Foundation, students were simultaneously trained in critical areas such as leadership, empathy, teamwork, and emotional intelligence-skills that are essential for becoming well-rounded and compassionate healthcare providers. The lecture series culminated in an enthusiastic concluding session on April 26, 2025, where students showcased their learning through role-plays, extempore speeches, and vibrant discussions, reflecting their transformative journey throughout the program. The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu. In his inspiring address, Dr. Gupta stressed the importance of innovative thinking and encouraged students to engage in research activities right from the undergraduate level. He emphasized that healthcare delivery transcends hospital boundaries and extends into the heart of communities. Dr. Gupta also highlighted the critical need for balancing technical proficiency with strong interpersonal and communication skills, noting that empathy, leadership, and emotional intelligence are as vital as medical knowledge for delivering holistic and effective patient care.
