Karra’s absence from the crucial AICC presser raises eyebrows

Early Times Report

New Delhi, July 25: The conspicuous absence of President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), of Tariq Hameed Karra, from the crucial All India Congress Committee (AICC) press conference held earlier this week has raised many eyebrows.
The event was considered significant for outlining the party’s roadmap and organizational restructuring in Jammu & Kashmir. The presser was attended by several senior leaders – but Karra’s deliberate non-attendance has raised serious questions about his commitment to Congress principles.
Reliable party sources suggest that Karra’s continued detachment from major Congress activities reflects residual influence of his former PDP (People’s Democratic Party) affiliation. Despite being entrusted with a key leadership position in the Congress structure, Karra appears to maintain an ideological leaning that does not fully align with the core values of the Congress Party.

Veteran Congress leaders, particularly those who stood by the party during the peak of militancy in J&K, are reportedly disillusioned with what they perceive as preferential treatment towards former PDP functionaries at the cost of long-serving Congress loyalists.
Several senior functionaries and grassroots workers have voiced concerns over the organizational approach in J&K, claiming that leadership decisions are failing to acknowledge those who upheld the party’s flag during the most turbulent phases in the region’s political history.
“There seems to be a systematic pattern of sidelining Congress loyalists in favor of individuals who joined from PDP, which could demoralize the cadre that remained steadfast during trying times,” said a party insider.
The Congress leadership at the national level has reiterated that organizational integrity and loyalty to the party’s ideology will remain the guiding principles for all future decisions.
