Jammu, July 25: A day after a youth died during a drug raid conducted by the District Special Branch (DSB) in the Surrey Chak area of Phallian Mandal here, two policemen were placed under suspension on Friday in connection with the incident.
Officials identified the suspended personnel as: Head Constable Baljinder Singh and Selection Grade Constable Pawan Singh.
As per the suspension order, both officials will remain attached to District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu, where they are required to deposit their uniform articles in the DPL store. However, they will continue to receive subsistence allowance as per the provisions laid down in the service rules.
In connection with the same case, DySP Headquarters Jammu has been entrusted with conducting a departmental enquiry against the suspended officials. The enquiry has been allotted D.E. No. 51/2025. The enquiry officer has been instructed to complete the proceedings on merit and submit a detailed report to the District Police Office (DPO) Jammu for further action.
Its in place to mention here that a youth Parvez Ahmad alias Bachu, son of Rehmat Ali, resident of Javed Nagar, Nikki Tawi was killed during the drug raid.
MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY ORDERED
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Jammu has ordered a Magisterial Inquiry into the incident that occurred on 24th July 2025 at Surey Chak, Phallian Mandal, an official spokesmen said.
Following the incident, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Satwari under Sections 109(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3/27 of the Arms Act.
Taking serious note of the incident, as reported by Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, the District Magistrate has initiated a Magisterial Inquiry to ensure a fair and impartial examination of the facts and circumstances leading to the incident. The inquiry will be conducted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Jammu South.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to complete the investigation within two weeks from the date of the order and submit a detailed report to the District Magistrate for further necessary action.
