CB arrests cashier for misappropriation of funds

Jammu, Aug 28: Crime Branch has arrested Cashier of Mechanical Division Jammu for huge misappropriation of funds misusing official position in the case registered against him on the complaint of Executive Engineer (Xen) .
The arrested accused has been identified as Slocus Nar (Junior Assistant) S/O David R/O Old Rehari Jammu, then posted as Cashier in the office of Xen, Mechanical Division Jammu.
Allegations levelled in the complaint were proved against Slocus Nar, who had been working as Cashier from 2008 to 2022 in the office of the Xen Mechanical Division Jammu. During the course of investigation it transpired that he committed criminal breach of trust & misappropriation of huge funds causing loss to the state exchequer and by misusing his official position manipulated the entries in the official records, treasury challans and in the revenue remittance register. The said Cashier was placed under suspension by Chief Engineer immediately after financial irregularities & forgery were detected by the departmental enquiry committee.
Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that accused involved in case FIR No. 79/2022 u/s 409,420,465,467,468,471 RPC, r/w Sec 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act has been arrested and further legal process is underway.
