Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 20: The Rangers of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhinagar brought pride to the institution and the Union Territory by participating with distinction in the First National Rover-Ranger Jamboree held in Chhattisgarh from 9th to 13th January, 2026. Three Rangers-Avneet Kour, Radhika Devi, and Shiksha Sharma-represented the college at this national-level event, which aimed to promote leadership, discipline, social responsibility, and national integration among youth. The students proudly represented Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing its rich culture and traditions on a national stage. The participants took active part in a wide range of cultural, skill-based, and educational activities and achieved notable success. The GCW Rangers secured Grade A in Camp Craft and Grade B in Camp Fire, Ethnic Fashion Show, Folk Dance, and March Past, earning certificates and trophies and bringing laurels to their college and the Union Territory. The students participated under the able guidance of Dr. Ujjwal Sharma, Ranger Unit Leader with constant support and encouragement from worthy Principal Dr Kulvinder Kaur whose continuous motivation and leadership played a vital role in their success. The event also provided opportunities for interaction with eminent personalities, participation in Youth Parliament sessions, and engagement in activities related to climate change, disaster management, life-saving skills, and the theme "Be Prepared - Ready for Life." A major highlight of the Jamboree was the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh during the closing ceremony, which added inspiration and significance to the event. Participants also explored the cultural and natural heritage of Chhattisgarh through organized sightseeing visits. |
