| Authorities announce airspace restrictions ahead of R-Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 20: Heightened security and airspace restrictions ahead of the Republic Day celebrations led to the cancellation of two flights to and from Srinagar on Tuesday after a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued at Delhi Airport, officials said. The affected flights were cancelled by the respective airlines due to operational and airspace curbs imposed as part of extensive security and logistical arrangements for the January 26 celebrations. Airport authorities said such measures are routine during high-profile national events to ensure smooth conduct of ceremonial activities and aerial displays. In view of the disruption, authorities issued a passenger advisory urging travellers to check the latest flight status with their airlines before heading to the airport. Passengers were also advised to remain in touch with airlines regarding rescheduling or refund options. “Due to a NOTAM in force at Delhi Airport in view of Republic Day arrangements, two flights to/from Srinagar Airport have been cancelled by the respective airlines today. Passengers are requested to check the latest flight status with their airline before proceeding to the airport. We regret the inconvenience caused,” the advisory said. Officials said flight operations are expected to normalise once Republic Day-related restrictions are lifted and airspace operations resume fully. |
