NEW DELHI, Jan 20: Amid heightened security and airspace restrictions in connection with ongoing Republic Day arrangements in the national capital, two flights operating between Delhi and Srinagar were cancelled after a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued, officials said today. In an advisory issued on its X handle, the Srinagar Airport authorities wrote, “Due to a NOTAM in force at Delhi Airport in view of Republic Day arrangements, two flights to/from Srinagar Airport have been cancelled by the respective airlines today.” Airport authorities also urged passengers to check the latest flight status with their airline before heading to the airport and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Indigo also issued an advisory asking passengers to cooperate in view of the heightened security. “As we prepare for the 77th Republic Day celebrations, your comfort and a seamless travel experience remain our top priorities. In light of enhanced security measures at all airports, we request your cooperation with airport authorities during frisking and other mandatory checks,” the post read. The airlines recommended travellers to allow extra time as “security formalities may take a little longer.” “We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work together to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey for all,” the post added. In view of enhanced security measures for Republic Day celebrations at airports across India, Air India advised passengers to report early for security checks, check their flight status, and allow extra time, appreciating their understanding and cooperation. The national capital is gearing up for the 77th Republic Day on January 26. As part of the beefed-up security, the agencies, apart from increased surveillanc,e have also placed posters of wanted terrorists at railway stations, bus terminals, and crowded marketplaces across Delhi. |
