Early Times Report

New Delhi, Mar 22: Terming it a milestone rooted in service, hard work and unwavering commitment, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that Narendra Modi setting a record of 8,931 days in public life, first as the Gujarat chief minister and now as the prime minister, reflect a deep dedication to nation-first governance, integrity in action, and tireless service to every citizen.
In a message on X, Shah said Prime Minister Modi on Sunday surpassed the 8,930-day record of former Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling to become the longest-serving head of a government in India.
“Modi Ji’s decades of Seva have shaped an era of his own. Whether it is giving the poor their rights, setting new landmarks in development or enhancing the nation’s pride on global platforms, the Modi era has transformed India unrecognisably,” Shah said.
Fostering this new India required a lifetime’s effort, and Prime Minister Modi gave it, he said.
“Serving the nation and its people without taking a holiday for more than 24 years is the manifestation of his sheer commitment. This explains the unprecedented affection he received from people, three times as the Gujarat CM and three times as India’s PM. People’s trust, affection and support for him have only grown with every passing day,” Shah said.
Terming the achievement a “milestone rooted in service, hard work and unwavering commitment”, Shah said in the post, “A rare legacy built on unprecedented trust and unparalleled Seva. #PradhanSevakModi.” Modi took the oath as the Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2021.
He continued in the post till May 26, 2014, when he took oath as the prime minister after leading the BJP to a spectacular victory with 282 seats in the general elections, making it the first non-Congress party to secure a clear majority, decimating the grand old party to a mere 44 seats.
