4/28/2026 9:16:33 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 28: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar through its para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) today organized Awareness Programmes at Legal Literacy Clubs, Legal Aid Clinics and Local Areas of Srinagar on the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the upcoming National Lok Adalat to be held on 9th May 2026 under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar.
The programmes were aimed at spreading awareness about Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms and the significance of Lok Adalat as an effective means for resolving disputes in a speedy, cost-effective, and amicable manner. The PLVs sensitised the participants about the benefits of settling cases through Lok Adalats, including reduced litigation costs, expeditious disposal of cases, and preservation of relationships.
During the sessions, the PLVs interacted with members of the public, distributed informational material, and addressed queries regarding legal rights and remedies available under the legal services framework. Emphasis was laid on encouraging people to opt for ADR mechanisms to avoid lengthy court procedures.
The initiative witnessed active participation from local residents, students, and members of the community, reflecting a growing interest in alternative modes of dispute resolution.
DLSA Srinagar reiterated its commitment towards promoting legal awareness and ensuring access to justice for all, particularly at the grassroots level, through continuous outreach programmes.
