Early Times Report

Chandigarh, Apr 28: Geetanjali Counselling Helpline Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a workshop on “Stress Management through Emotional Regulation and Mindfulness” on the occasion of World Health Day. The session was conducted by Dr. Nayanika Singh, Corporate Behavioural Trainer. The primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness about stress and emotional regulation while equipping students with practical, mindfulness-based techniques to enhance emotional resilience and adopt healthy coping strategies, particularly in view of the ongoing Panjab University semseter examinations. The workshop commenced with a reflective exercise that enabled students to understand different types of stress and identify their personal emotional triggers. It then progressed to mindfulness practices, including focused breathing exercises, which enhanced students’ awareness of their bodily sensations. Activities based on Expressive Art Therapy encouraged participants to acknowledge and validate their emotions rather than suppress them, highlighting benefits such as mood enhancement, release of pent-up stress, and the activation of positive emotions. An engaging Emotional Role-Playing activity further fostered emotional expression, empathy, and a deeper understanding of diverse emotional experiences. The session concluded on a positive note by emphasising the power of gratitude, reinforcing the importance of appreciation and positive thinking in effective stress management.
Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma appreciated the efforts of Geetanjali Counselling Helpline Committee in organising an interactive and experiential workshop which ensured enthusiastic participation, meaningful engagement, and creative expression among the students in light of stress management during exams.
