Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 28: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) Jammu organized a one-day awareness programme at Bal Bharti Public School, Channi Rama, focusing on the new criminal laws, anti-drug awareness under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, and the role of youth in community development.
During the session, SCW officers briefed students and faculty about the three new criminal laws that came into effect on July 1, 2024 — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
The officers explained the key provisions of these laws and highlighted their significance in modernizing India’s criminal justice system.
The programme also addressed the issue of drug abuse, its legal consequences, and the importance of collective efforts by families, schools, and society in preventing substance abuse.
Government initiatives on de-addiction were also discussed. Students were encouraged to play an active role in building a responsible and aware community.
The session remained interactive, with active participation from students and faculty members.
The awareness programme was led by Dy SP Javaid Iqbal Tabassum and Sr PO Neha under the supervision of SSP SCW Jammu, Sh. Sanjay Parihar.
SCW Jammu reiterated its commitment to organizing such outreach programmes to enhance public awareness and promote social responsibility.
