Early Times Report

Jammu, May 1: BJP spokesperson and former Vice Chairman Balbir Ram Rattan described the launch of the Vande Bharat train between Jammu and Srinagar as a historic milestone and a transformative gift for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that this long-awaited rail link marks a new chapter in the region’s journey towards development, integration, and prosperity.
In a statement issued here, Balbir Ram Rattan said that the introduction of the Vande Bharat train on the Jammu–Srinagar route reflects the resolve of the Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasized that this modern, high-speed, all weather train service will significantly reduce travel time between the two regions, making travel safer, faster, and more comfortable for passengers. Balbir said that for decades, the dream of seamless rail connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar remained unfulfilled due to geographical and logistical challenges. Today, that dream has turned into reality. The Vande Bharat train is not merely a mode of transport, but a powerful symbol of progress, unity, and new opportunities for our people. Highlighting the economic impact, Balbir Ram Rattan said that improved rail connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar will provide a major boost to tourism, trade, and employment. He noted that tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley will now find it easier to travel, thereby strengthening the hospitality sector and benefiting thousands of local families dependent on tourism.
He further said that pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Shri Amarnath shrines will also benefit from enhanced connectivity, as the new service will ensure smoother travel arrangements. The farmers, artisans, and small traders will gain better access to markets, enabling them to expand their businesses and improve their incomes.
Balbir Ram Rattan also highlighted that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are witnessing unprecedented development in recent years, particularly after 2019. He said that the Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat train is yet another example of the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and equal opportunities in the region.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government, Balbir Ram Rattan said that such landmark initiatives are fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He urged citizens to take full advantage of this facility and contribute towards building a stronger, more connected, and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir.
He said that the region is steadily moving towards a future of peace, progress, and stability, with modern infrastructure acting as a strong foundation.
