Early Times Report
BISHNAH, May 1: In a vibrant display of creativity and social responsibility, the students of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah today participated in a wall painting event organized under the banner of _Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan_ (NMBA), the flagship campaign of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The event was held on the college campus with the aim of creating awareness among youth and the general public about the ill effects of drug abuse. The theme of the wall painting was _"Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life"_, and students used powerful visuals, slogans, and motifs to depict the devastating impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society.
Dr Shallu Samyal Principal, GDC Bishnah, inaugurated the event. In her address, she lauded the efforts of the students and NSS/NCC volunteers for using art as a medium to deliver a strong social message. She said, "Our youth are the strongest force against the drug menace. Through this wall painting, our students have not only shown artistic talent but also their commitment to a healthy, drug-free Jammu and Kashmir
Dr. Koushal Kiran Thakur Nodal Officer NMBA and Dr Kusum Convenor of Fine Arts Club informed that the campaign is being implemented across J&K to sensitize students and communities. They emphasized that such creative initiatives help in engaging young minds and channeling their energy towards nation-building.
The wall, painted at a prominent spot near the college entrance, portrays contrasting images of a life destroyed by addiction and a life empowered by education, sports, and family support. Slogans like _"Nasha Chhodo, Zindagi Jodo"_ and _"A Drug-Free India Begins With Me"_ were prominently featured.
