Kurukshetra University Punjabi Department Delegation visits Guru Nanak Dev University

AMRITSAR, May 1: An academic delegation from the Department of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University, visited the School of Punjabi Studies at Guru Nanak Dev University with the aim of fostering academic collaboration and addressing emerging challenges in Punjabi studies.
The visiting team comprised the Head of Department Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Lata Khera, along with research scholars and postgraduate students. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh, the delegation was received by Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head, School of Punjabi Studies, and faculty members, who extended a warm welcome and presented mementos.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manjinder Singh lauded the literary contributions of Kurukshetra University's Punjabi Department and emphasised the importance of inter-institutional collaboration for the promotion of Punjabi language and literature. Dr. Lata Khera said that the interaction had helped bring the Punjabi literary environments of neighbouring states closer.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh appreciated Guru Nanak Dev University's rich academic resources and library, terming the visit a milestone in terms of academic exchange rather than a mere formal interaction. He expressed hope that both institutions would collaborate on joint research projects and conferences in future.
Research scholar Baljeet Singh from Kurukshetra University said that such academic engagements could open new employment avenues for students of Punjabi studies. Students, Jyoti and Priya, presented traditional 'Suhag' and Punjabi songs, adding a cultural dimension to the event.
The programme also featured an academic dialogue between faculty members and research scholars of both universities, focusing on the need for comparative studies and interdisciplinary research. The current status of Punjabi teaching in Punjab and Haryana was also discussed.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Baljeet Kaur Riar, while Dr. Megha Salwan proposed a vote of thanks. Several faculty members, including Dr. Harinder Kaur Sohal, Dr. Rajvinder Kaur, Dr. Simranjit Singh, Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, Dr. Harinder Singh Tur, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur and Dr. Chandanpreet Singh, were present on the occasion.
