JAMMU, May 11: Reaffirming its commitment to Continuous Professional Development and future-ready education, Delhi Public School Jammu deputed a team of educators to participate in an insightful workshop titled "AI Tools & Computational Thinking for Educators" organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu in collaboration with Techible and I3C IIT Jammu on May 9, 2026. The workshop was conducted by Parmaveer Nandal.
The two-hour interactive session, held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., focused on empowering educators with practical knowledge, hands-on exposure, and innovative strategies related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking (CT). The workshop aimed at enabling teachers to effectively integrate emerging technologies and computational approaches into classroom teaching practices in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020 and 21st-century learning.
The participating educators from DPS Jammu included Navneet Kaur - Academic Supervisor (Middle Wing), Meenakshi Kohli - Deputy Coordinator (Middle Wing), Prerna Malhotra - Coordinator (Primary Wing), Minakshi Gupta, Shruti Sharma, Ambika Sharma, Sumit, Shaweta Sawhney, and Chandni Abrol, along with other faculty representatives from the school.
The workshop primarily focused on the introduction and implementation of Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence in school education for students of Classes III to VIII. Teachers were introduced to innovative pedagogical practices and practical classroom integration strategies aimed at fostering creativity, analytical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among learners.
During the session, the resource person elaborated upon the key pillars of Computational Thinking - Decomposition, Pattern Recognition, Abstraction, Algorithmic Thinking, and Data Analysis - and highlighted their relevance in developing logical reasoning and critical-thinking abilities among students. The educators were also familiarised with the CT and AI curriculum prescribed by NCERT and were guided on integrating AI tools meaningfully and responsibly into classroom learning.
The speaker emphasized that Artificial Intelligence has become an integral part of everyday life and therefore necessitates informed, ethical, and responsible usage. It was further discussed that CT and AI concepts can be seamlessly integrated with subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Languages to make learning more experiential, interdisciplinary, engaging, and skill-oriented.
