Early Times Report REASI, June 11: As part of its continued efforts to strengthen bonds with local communities and address their concerns, the Indian Army organised a Gujjar and Bakkarwal Meet at Agsi in Reasi on 10 June 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities, village elders, youth and other prominent residents of the area. The interaction provided a valuable platform for open dialogue, enabling the local population to share their views, concerns and developmental aspirations. During the meet, representatives of the Army highlighted various welfare initiatives being undertaken for the upliftment of the local populace, with particular emphasis on education, healthcare, skill development and community welfare under various outreach programmes. The participants were encouraged to actively engage in nation-building activities and contribute towards maintaining peace, harmony and progress in the region. The attendees appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army in reaching out to remote communities and providing continuous support in addressing local issues. They expressed gratitude for the Army's commitment towards the welfare and development of the Gujjar and Bakkarwal population. A total No of 52 Gujjar and Bakkarwal attended the meet. The event concluded on a positive note, further reinforcing the spirit of mutual trust, cooperation and partnership between the Indian Army and the local communities of Reasi. |
