While chairing the 11th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that as India progresses towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat, the country’s collective responsibility becomes even greater. India is moving forward on its growth trajectory with confidence and determination, amid global uncertainty and instability. In the recent past India has signed free trade agreements with many countries to create new opportunities for growth and exports. The journey towards a developed India cannot rest solely on the shoulders of the Government. It requires the active participation of States, institutions, businesses, entrepreneurs, farmers, workers, and citizens alike. Cooperative federalism and competitive federalism must continue to work hand in hand, ensuring that development reaches every region and every section of society. The Governing Council of NITI Aayog provides an important platform where the Centre and States can collaborate on common priorities and work towards shared national goals. India’s economic resilience has been demonstrated through sustained investments in infrastructure, digital transformation, manufacturing, innovation, and social welfare. Flagship initiatives have improved connectivity, expanded financial inclusion, and accelerated technological adoption across sectors. At the same time, the emphasis on ease of doing business and policy reforms has strengthened investor confidence and encouraged entrepreneurship. One of the notable aspects of India’s recent economic strategy has been its proactive engagement with the global economy through free trade agreements with several countries. These agreements are creating new opportunities for exports, expanding market access for Indian products, and integrating Indian businesses into global value chains. They also offer immense potential for sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, information technology, and manufacturing to reach wider international markets. As India marches towards becoming a developed nation, every stakeholder has a role to play. Governments must continue policy reforms and transparent governance, industries must innovate and create jobs, educational institutions must nurture skilled talent, and citizens must contribute through responsible participation and civic commitment. The Prime Minister’s call for greater collective responsibility is both timely and relevant. India’s aspirations are ambitious, but with unity of purpose, cooperative action, and sustained commitment, the dream of Viksit Bharat can become a reality. The country’s confidence amid global uncertainty is a testament to its growing strength and its determination to shape a prosperous and inclusive future for generations to come. |
