Early Times Report POONCH, July 8: The Indian Army conducted a Drug Abuse Awareness Lecture at Mastandhara, Poonch, to educate the youth and local community about the harmful effects of substance abuse, drug addiction and smoking. The programme aimed to spread awareness on the physical, mental, social and economic damage caused by drug abuse, while encouraging young people to make informed and responsible life choices. During the interactive session, participants were sensitised about the warning signs of addiction, peer pressure, preventive measures and the importance of seeking timely guidance and support. The lecture also highlighted the role of families, teachers and community elders in protecting youth from the menace of drugs and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The programme concluded with a Drug Free Pledge, wherein participants reaffirmed their commitment to staying away from drugs and contributing towards a healthier, safer and more responsible society. The initiative received an encouraging response from local residents and reflected the Indian Army's continued commitment towards public welfare, youth empowerment and community outreach. |
