| Police arrests two main accused within hours in assault case on NHW-44 near Dugger Haveli Samba | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, July 8: In a swift action demonstrating commitment towards public safety and law enforcement, Samba Police has arrested two main accused within hours involved in an assault case on NHW-44 near Dugger Haveli crossing within the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. On 07.07.2026, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Samba by Jamal Din S/o Shah Din R/o Chak Gadhdri tehsil and district Kathua. The complainant stated that he alongwith Julfa D/o Billu R/o Chak Gadadar tehsil and district Kathua was allegedly intercepted and assaulted by some persons near Dugger Haveli crossing. The complainant further alleged that the accused persons had opened fire, resulting in damage to the tyre of their vehicle and that a woman accompanying him was forcibly taken away from the spot. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a case FIR No. 191/2026 u/s 109/87/126(2)/115(2)/324(4)/191(2)/191(3) BNS 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, SSP Samba constituted special team headed by SHO PS Samba under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Samba to work out the case on priority. During the course of investigation, Police team of PS Samba conducted multiple raids and successfully arrested the two main accused from Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana. The arrested accused have been identified as Gulab Din alias Gaiya S/o Mureed Ali and Murad Ali alias Maradu S/o Tej Ali both residents of Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana. Police investigations revealed that both accused are habitual offenders and have been involved in multiple criminal cases registered against them at different Police Stations of district Samba, Jammu and Kathua. Criminal antecedents of Murad Ali alias Maradu include FIR No. 81/2022 U/S 379/411 IPC of PS Ramgarh FIR No. 74/2024 u/s 457/380 IPC of PS Bari-Brahmana FIR No. 227/2023 U/S 353/323/332/504/506 IPC of PS Kathua FIR No. 150/2019 U/S 341/323/382/201 IPC of PS Bari Brahmana FIR No. 142/2024 U/S 303(2) BNS of PS Bari Brahmana FIR No. 150/2024 U/S 303(2) of PS Bari- Brahmana Criminal antecedents of Gulab Din alias Gaiya include: FIR No. 77/2021 U/S 302/307/109/201/212 IPC and 3/25, 4/25 Arms Act of PS Arnia FIR No. 44/2025 u/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of PS Pacca Danga Jammu FIR No. 168/2025 U/S 115(2)/191(2)/191(3)/307/324(4) BNS of PS Bari-Brahmana FIR No. 79/2021 U/S 8/21/22/25/27/29 NDPS Act and 3/25 Arms Act of PS Arnia Preliminary findings indicate no evidence of gunfire at the scene and the sound may have been caused by the bursting of a vehicle tyre. The facts relating to the alleged kidnapping of the woman have not been established as of now. However, investigation is underway and all angles are being thoroughly examined. Strict legal action shall be taken as per law against all those found involved in the crime. Samba Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring the rule of law and maintaining peace by taking prompt and decisive action against criminal elements operating in the district. |
