| FIR lodged against driver for endangering human lives | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 3: Traffic Police Rural Jammu in its continued drive against overloading of passenger vehicles today lodged another FIR against driver of Public Service Vehicle (Passenger Auto) TATA-Magic bearing Registration No. JK08J-7968. Briefly stated, that on 03.09.2026, SO Traffic Billawar during routine checking at Dhar Road near Kandharnoo Tehsil Ramkot intercepted one passenger Auto bearing Registration No. JK08J-7968 which was on its way from Rajwalta to Gujroo Nagrota. During checking, the vehicle driven by Mohit Kumar S/O Mohinder Kumar R/O Rajwalta Tehsil Ramkot was found overloaded with 09 excess passengers against the seating capacity of 08 passengers (Total 17) thereby posing a serious threat to the safety of passengers and increasing the likelihood of accidents. The vehicle history showed that the vehicle has already been challaned thrice for overloading. Accordingly, FIR No. 180/2026 U/S 281/125/BNS has been registered against the driver at Police Station Billawar District Kathua. Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic Rural Jammu) Farooq Qaiser stated that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities for cancellation of the Registration Certificate of the vehicle as well as the Driving License of the driver involved. He further urged all vehicle owners and drivers to ensure strict compliance with the MV Act/Rules warning that stringent action will continue against the violators. |
