JAMMU, Sept 8: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Tuesday paid growing floral tributes to Baba-e- Qaum Sher-e- Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah on his 44th death anniversary. The main commemorative event was held at the party's provincial headquarter, Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu, where senior leaders of the party gathered to recall Sher-e-Kashmir's Secular Vision, Landmark land Reforms, and Legacy of Unity and brotherhood.
The event was Chaired by Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta and attended by Satish Sharma Honble Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and ARI & Trainings, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra former minister and Additional General Secretary, Babu Rampal former minister and Central Zone President, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Provincial Secretary Jammu, Bimla Luthra former MLA, Qazi Jalal Ud Din former MLA, Deepinder Kour former MLC, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell, S. Tejinder Pal Singh Aman Provincial President Jammu YNC, Rajni Devi Working President Women Wing Jammu, Nar Singh President Labour Wing, Harshvardhan Singh President NCSU, Pardeep Bali, and Ayub Malik Provincial Secretaries Jammu, Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone, Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu Urban, Subash Bhagat District President Jammu Rural "A", Naresh Bittu District President Jammu Rural "B", Sudagar Gupta District President Samba, Similar tributes were paid across all district headquarters in Jammu division, where local party units organized commemorative events to remember Baba-e- Qaum Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah's life and contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma Hon'ble Minister reiterated the commitment to preserving the secular and inclusive identity of Jammu and Kashmir, a vision championed by Sheikh Abdullah throughout his life."National Conference remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard the rights of all people, ensuring freedom of religion, equality, and unity in diversity. Upholding this spirit and isolating those who spread hate is the true tribute to Sheikh Sahib,". He also recalling the pioneering Land Reforms Act introduced under Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah's leadership. "This historic reform empowered farmers and changed the socio-economic fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, making them masters of their own destiny," Sharma said.
Ajay Kumar Sadhotra former minister and Additional General Secretary emphasized Sheikh sahib as a "towering political figure and a lighthouse of Hindu-Muslim unity. He praised Sher-e-Kashmir as a visionary and a contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi who tirelessly worked to build bridges of amity and brotherhood during some of the most challenging periods in the subcontinent's history. "Preserving the idea of Jammu and Kashmir is like preserving the idea of India," he stated.
