| Youth Hold The Power | | | Youth hold the power to change the world. They hold the key to make ‘Bharat Viksit’ by 2047. Not only the youngsters from cities, the youth from rural and frontier areas need to be empowered in every sector so that they scale new heights.
India’s demographic strength will become a true national asset only when young people, irrespective of where they live, have access to quality education, modern technology, meaningful employment opportunities and the resources needed to turn ideas into enterprises. Geography should never become a barrier to ambition.
Education remains the foundation. Young people in rural and frontier regions need access to quality schools, digital learning, skill-development programmes, laboratories, libraries and professional guidance. Technology has already reduced many geographical barriers, but the digital divide must be addressed so that a talented student in a remote village can access the same knowledge and opportunities available to a student in a metropolitan city.
Employment and entrepreneurship must receive equal attention. Instead of seeing youth only as job seekers, India needs to increasingly nurture them as job creators. Skill training, start-up support, access to credit, mentorship and market linkages can help young people establish businesses suited to local conditions. Agriculture, tourism, handicrafts, technology, renewable energy and the service sector offer considerable opportunities, particularly in rural and frontier regions.
Sports and culture are equally important avenues for youth empowerment. Talent exists far beyond established urban sporting centres and cultural institutions. Young athletes, artists, musicians and performers from remote areas often possess extraordinary potential but lack infrastructure, coaching and platforms. Identifying such talent early and providing sustained support can transform individual lives while enriching the country’s cultural and sporting landscape.
Connectivity is another critical component. Physical connectivity through roads and transport must be complemented by digital connectivity and institutional networks that connect young people with universities, employers, entrepreneurs, investors, training centres and national-level opportunities. A young person should not have to leave his or her hometown merely to discover what opportunities exist.
Yet opportunities alone are not enough. Guidance and mentorship can make the difference between potential and achievement. Young people need experienced mentors who can help them navigate choices, learn from failures and develop confidence. Successful professionals, entrepreneurs, sportspersons and academics can contribute by becoming mentors and opening doors for those who are still searching for their path.
The real measure of talent is not individual success alone, but the ability to create opportunities for others. A young entrepreneur who employs others, a sportsperson who trains children in his village, or a professional who mentors students from disadvantaged backgrounds multiplies the impact of personal achievement.
Empowering young Indians from every village, town and frontier region will ensure that development is not concentrated in a few centres but becomes a shared national endeavour. India’s greatest strength is its people—and its youth can turn that strength into the foundation of a confident, innovative and developed nation. |
