Kupwara, Aug 19: Unrest has gripped the Kashmir Valley for the 42 consecutive day today with no signs of improvement. In yet another incident today, militants attacked the Border Security Force camp at Karnah which is located in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. Following the attack, a clash broke out between security forces and terrorists. As per reports by three BSF jawans and a porter were injured. However, the exchange of fire is still going on. While the nation celebrated the 70th Independence Day, violence took over Jammu and Kashmir where militants killed three people including a CRPF officer. An hour before Independence Day celebration, two blasts rocked Manipur's capital Imphal where no casualties were reported. Also, several militant organisations called for a boycott of Independence Day celebrations in the state, a report revealed. Violence has gripped the Kashmir Valley for nearly 42 days now following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8. Despite heavy firing by the Indian Army and efforts taken to stop them from entering, nearly 60 terrorists have infiltrated into the Valley from across POK in the last couple of weeks, Intelligence officer was quoted saying. Also, the situation across the Valley doesn't seem to improve. |
