Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 19: Expressing grave concern over certain unsettling formulations of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the idea of Jammu Bandh at this point in time, Jammu for India on Friday urged the people of the Jammu province to appreciate the dangerous ramifications of these formulations and eschew the idea of Bandh in the larger national interest as well in the interest of nationalist people who have been doing all to defeat the ongoing communal and separatist movement in the Valley.
What has shocked the nationalists in the state was the formulation that there should be "intra-regional dialogue" to end turmoil in Kashmir and also the formulation which suggested that CCI has also overtly and covertly given credence to the sinister demand in Kashmir seeking Right to Self determination, said Prof. Hari Om, Convenor, JFI addressing an emergent meeting here today.
He asked, "How could a trading body indulge in activities which have the potential of unsettling the settled and directly promoting the separatist cause in the name of Jammu's interest?" He further asked whether the CCI Jammu considered Jammu and Kashmir an independent Country where certain regions are at war with each other and which are the sole factor in the political situation of the state.
"Jammu and Kashmir is and shall ever remain an integral part of India. The only issue which still remain unresolved between India and Pakistan is the determination of the political status of POJK, Gilgit and Baltistan, which, is politically, legally and constitutionally Indian. By using the term 'Intra-regional Talks', the Chamber of Commerce President Rakesh Gupta has crossed the redline and created a sort of confusion and commotion in the region. This is the term which the anti-Jammu and anti-India forces had been using since decades to divide and weaken Jammu region to create Greater Kashmir. it is regrettable that CCI Jammu used the same terminology and that too in the name of people of Jammu," said Prof. Hari Om.
JFI Convenor said the very talk of Bandh at this critical juncture in the otherwise peaceful Jammu province looks quite intriguing in the sense that it is being construed in Kashmir a support for the ongoing anti-India movement in the valley. "The bandh will give the international community to understand that not only Kashmir but Jammu is also disturbed and part of the movement in Kashmir. This is utterly unacceptable to the people of Jammu. We are a democratic India not a theocratic state," he further said. The JFI makes a fervent appeal to the people of Jammu province to ignore the bandh call and carry on their work as usual. Prominent among others present in the meeting included Dheeraj Pargal, organising secy, Dr. Agnishekhar, Rajesh Dutta, Arvind Sharma, Ajatshatru Singh, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, Shailender Aima.
