Taxation laws amended to help hoarders of black money: Harsh
12/3/2016 9:20:40 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 3: Expressing dismay over the IT amendments passed in the Lok Sabha recently and terming them as a reward for the black money hoarders, a contingent of Panther activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh and Yashpal Kundal along with other leaders staged a vociferous protest demonstration against the move, at Exhibition Ground today. The agitated protestors raised slogans like50:50 Nahin Chalega…Nahin Chalega, Yeh 50:50 Kya Hai…Kya Hai Yeh 50:50, Kala Dhan Safed Karna Band karo…Band Karo, etc to express their indignation.
Harsh Dev Singh while addressing the media lamented that the new legislation instead of plugging the lacunae in the existing laws would provide a golden opportunity to the tax evaders to launder their black money and thereby convert 50% of their black money into white. He further maintained that apprehensions were rife in the public that the new "50:50" modus operandi had been evolved to help the hoarders of black money who financed various political parties including the BJP during the elections. Accusing different political parties of conniving in the process, he regretted that all big political parties had black money and hence colluded to convert the same into white through the said move.
Calling upon the general public to oppose the game plan of various political parties to convert their Black money into white, Singh said that Panthers Party would vociferously oppose the said move and initiate a campaign to expose the fraudulent moves of the pseudo honest leaders.
Condemning the manner in which the Income Tax Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Singh said that that the Bill was passed without any discussion which was not the way to run the Parliamentary business. He said that Union Finance Minister Arun Jailtley furtively introduced the Bill and the voice of the opposition was stifled in the Parliament when it was demanding initiation of the debate over demonetization issue.
He said that the BJP was misleading under the pretext of the new amendment in the taxation laws that the locked- in money would be utilized for the welfare of the poor but actually it had provided a fresh breather to the black money hoarders and a fresh lease of life to the scrapped currency. He said that the common man, the hardworking and honest had supported the demonetization move only for the reason that it would wipe out the black money but the recent move had totally disappointed them and regretted that the provisions of stringent penalty and punitive measures in search and seizure cases in the new law were only to dupe the public at large. He said that the provision in the law recommending that there would be no seizure of the gold ornaments to the extent of 500 gms per married woman, 250 gms per unmarried lady and 100 gm per male member even if the prima facie failed to match the income record of the assessee would only provide a loop hole for the culprits to illegally hoard the gold by doing manipulations. Dismayed over the hardships faced by the common masses during the financial crisis.
