Omar joining Mamata's march infuriated Congress

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3: Former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram taking a dig at Omar Abdullah and describing him as the "incompetent" Chief Minister has triggered the speculations that Omar joining Mamata Banerjee and some other leaders on their march to Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest against the demonetization has infuriated the Congress.
This will surely come as shock for the former CM as he had always trusted and believed that he had the support of Chidambaram to the full. Chidambaram as a Home Minister was initially supportive of the Omar in his initial days but at the height of 2010 violence in Kashmir, it was he who decided to take the reins of the government.
Sources said Chidambaram's comment indicates that Rahul Gandhi may have changed his opinion about Omar Abdullah. "It was Rahul who had said that Omar was doing a tough job. Now, Chidambaram, close confidant of the Gandhi family, is saying that he was not competent. It not only speaks of the real competence of Omar, but also about the re-thinking of the Congress on his competence," said a senior NC leader, who has been sidelined by the Omar .
At time when the protests had started in the Valley in 2010 he had first said that it was limited to just a few police stations of the Valley and then he went off the radar.
"Had Omar handled the situation in 2010 as a real administration and politician with the ears to the ground, there would not have been disturbance this year. The separatists and their handlers across the border sensed that they can do it again and force the GoI to kneel down. This Frankenstein of the strike is the creation of the Omar on account of his incompetence and it has now been said by Chidambaram who has headed the two top most ministries, which are second most important to the PM," said the official, who had worked closely with Omar.
