ET Report JAMMU, Feb 24: Why the Jammu and Kashmir Government hasn't made public various committee reports which were set up to know the truth behind corruption charges against Ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats. One such committee report was submitted by Kundal committee, which was set up during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad, to know the truth behind the corruption in forest department and it was found that many sitting Ministers and MLAs were involved in the scam. That time the main opposition party, National Conference on January 22, 2008 in State Assembly demanded resignation of Ministers but today when NC is ruling the State, many tainted persons, who were indicted by the Kundal committee report, are enjoying the Government luxury and hospitality. No action has been taken against these Ministers or MLAs and whatever was displayed on January 22, 2008 was mere politics. The Kundal committee report had suggested that state has faced huge lost to exchequer and people responsible be punished but it has been found that during Azad's tenure and now Omar Abdullah's tenure, only one yardstick was used in this regard, to save "Daagi Mantris". This term was used by NC MLAs in 2008 but after 2009, Daagi has vanished and only Mantris are there. The corruption cases and action against culprits in Jammu and Kashmir is only limited to the lower rank officers who don't have any political background and pushing. They are being victimised and put behind bars but higher rank bureaucrats and politicians have never been punished in Jammu and Kashmir on corruption charges. The people of the state must seek answer from all these parties who shield their people with corruption charges and only punish those who don't have any political patronage. |
