Started over six years back, Jagti township hospital still incomplete | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: Though started over six years back the construction of 200 bedded hospital at Jagti township has not been completed till date which has led to various problems to the people of the area. The concern over delay in the completion of Jagti hospital was also expressed by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during his recent visit to the State while addressing the centenary celebrations of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha. Azad who was the brain child for construction of Jagti township to provide two room tenements to the hapless migrants hounded out from Valley by trigger happy militants were living in dingy ORTs at different camps. The migrants in the township have been constantly demanding completion of the work of the Hospital but the authorities are maintaining a total silence over the same. The concerned agency has abandoned the work on the Hospital few years back for unknown reasons and the authorities in Relief organisation have failed to pursue the contractor for the same though knowing fully that the delay in construction of Hospital has led to problems of migrants. The Government, while constructing the Jagti township had assured all basic facilities there including schools, shopping mall, children's park, play ground and sports stadium. But except the schools and parks the rest promises were not fulfilled till date. The schools in Jagti also san teachers while the shopping mall has also remained a distant dream say the inmates of the camp who have accused the Government of putting them to more problems instead of solution. The camp inmates while accusing the Government said that the migrants who had established small shops in the erstwhile camps have become idle due to shifting of the camps to Jagti. These shopkeepers have since been idle as they have lost their job after shifting of the camps to Jagti. The Government till date has failed to fulfill the promise of constructing 150 shops more at Jagti and other camps. This has led to a lot of resentment among the migrants and their feelings have been also reflected in the Parliamentary Standing Committee in its recent report. |
