Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Nov 30: The local representatives of print and electronic media boycotted Omar Abdullah's public rally here today after they were pushed by the chief minister's security staff and asked to leave the venue. Before the arrival of Omar at O P Hill Stadium where he was to address a public rally in favour of Javed Ahmad Rana, party candidate from Mendhar, local representatives of print and electronic media reached there to cover the event. A DSP of security wing of police, who was deployed outside the venue, allowed all of them to go inside after their checking and verification. At the venue, they were not allowed to even stand on the left of the podium. A security SI asked them to move to the other side. However, when they moved to the other side, CM's security staff pushed them and asked them to move out of the venue. Though NC leader and ex-MLC Rahim Dat intervened and asked the security staff not to misbehave with them but all in vain. The representatives then walked out of the venue and boycotted the chief minister's rally. Later, they sat outside the venue and held an anti-government demonstration. |
