Baffled by Modi's attack, Omar drops secular mask, using religious card to polarize voters | | | Bivek Mathur
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 30: Visibly shaken by the scathing attack launched against him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi the previous day while addressing a rally in Udhampur, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stooped to the extent of using religious card to polarize voters. On November 29, during a political rally in favour of NC candidate from Handwara, Omar Abdullah attacked Sajjad Lone, Peoples Conference chairman for calling Narendra Modi his brother and cautioned people of the constituency not to polish the shoes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Playing the communal card, Omar attacked Sajjad Lone saying, "Suddenly Lone has seen a brother in Modi who was intending to construct temples demolishing 'our mosque' and wants to replace 'our' Shariat Law with the civil code, wants to abrogate Article 370 and wants to replace our flag. He could be a brother to Lone, not me and I even don't want such brothers". "Chief Minister got swayed in emotions and the statement he made was totally unbecoming of a Chief Minister and leader of a party that had been beating its chest over secularism for decades," said a retired government officer. The statement of Omar has also vindicated the claims of those NC leaders who chose to walk out ruing immaturity of Omar Abdullah. Interestingly, Omar's counter attack on Modi also indicated his dual face as he was seen showering all praise on the Prime Minister till recently, but was totally baffled when latter to chose to hold Omar responsible for deep rooted corruption in the state of J&K. In a bid to vent out his frustration, Omar played religious card exposing his true face to the people across the state and the country. |
