Baramulla, Jan 14: A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum (JKGCWF) was held at Wagoora thesil headquarter in which the cross sections of the society and members of the forum participated on Wednesday. According to spokesperson of the forum, large number of delegates and members of the (JKGCWF) held a meeting under the Chairmanship of its president Syed Shamim Ahmad. The meeting unanimously decided to take their cause to its logic conclusion. The meeting urged the government of Jammu and Kashmir to revoke their decision with regard to the reservation to the specified strata of the society. The JKGCWF accused the state government of failure to implementation the orders, while referring to the M.N.Nagraj Committee versus the union of India case, in which the Supreme Court had ordered that caste based promotions, could only hamper the policies regarding Jammu and Kashmir in general and it could only be done if the government was able to prove the backwardness of the employees. However the president has said that, the Mandal Commission of 1979, has generated a furious controversy and matter of the fact is that Political parties know reservations are no way to improve the lot of the poor and the backward. Senior social activist and former Deputy superintendent of Police (DSP) Shabir Ahmad Shah and some other new members hailed the steps which were taken by the forum. The members were highly enthusiastic and appealed the president to make mass awareness of their genuine cause. While as some of the members have opined to move Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Honourable High Court to stop the injustice with the general categories of Jammu and Kashmir. Beside president, General Secretary, Treasurer and other office bearers were also present in the meeting. |
