Early Times Report

jammu, Jan 14: Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today urged upon Governor NN Vohra, Chancellor of University of Jammu (JU) to order an inquiry into illegal appointment for the post of contractual lecturer in Remote Sensing Department of University of Jammu during session 2013-14, which has caused huge loss to the university exchequer.
Addressing a press conference here today, JYF President Mohd Akram Ahmed alleged that to adjust a blue eyed candidate, norms were altered by HoD remote sensing department and explore opportunity for his favorite man, since the contractual lecturer was appointed without any criteria.
"Earlier, in the month of June 2014, interviews were scheduled for contractual lecturers in various departments of University including Remote Sensing Department, but due to certain objections raised by section of scholars, the authority withheld the interview for Remote Sensing department", he claimed.
He said that acting VC, University of Jammu Prof R D Sharma has conducted interview for the post of contractual lecturer onDecember 4.
"University had invited applications for the post in dubious manner in the month of June without mentioning qualification in eligibility for the post of lecturer, following the protest against the advertisement, the then VC Prof MPS Ishar withheld the interview," he said, adding that the decision was taken overlooking the remarks of former VC.
"Since no criteria was fixed for post of Lecturer/ Assistant Professor, how appointment of blue eyed candidate was made in the department", Ahmed asked.
He further said that in recent development, the HoD made another attempt to appointment his man permanently against a post advertised in violation of University Grant Commission (UGC) norms.
"For the post of Assistant Professor, an eligibility criteria was set as PG Diploma in Remote Sensing instead of Master Degree in subject", he said. "In the list, two posts of Assistant Professors in Department of Remote Sensing and GIS were also shown but when it comes the eligibility criteria required for filling the application forms, surprisingly, PG diploma in Remote Sensing was sought as eligibility criteria", JYF President said.
