Administration gears up for Pulse Polio eradication campaign

Reasi, Jan 14: District Development Commissioner Reasi-Shabir Ahmad Bhatt took a meeting of the task force to make the first round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) scheduled to be held in Reasi district on 18 January.
According to press release, the Chief Medical Officer Reasi, Dr Parminder Singh apprised the members about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the first round of IPPI programme. He informed the first round will be of three days, first day at booths, second and third day door to door programme. "Near about 364 booths have been identified to administer polio doses to around 54921 children falling in the age group of 0-5 years and about 18 transit teams have been constituted in additions to these booths so as to cover the high risk areas," he added.
Keeping in view the heavy inflow of pilgrims at Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board the transit team will provide service for 24 hours. Booths have been formed at all Bus Stands of District, Check Posts of Katra, Sulla Park, Ransoo (base camp of Shiv Khori Shrine). Mobile teams have been also constituted for the children of workers deployed on Reasi, Katra roads and Konkan Railway constructions. DDC Reasi emphasized on hundred percent successes in the ensuing IPPI rounds and asked all members to work in coordination. He further stressed officers to educate the masses about the programme and also involve PRI functionaries as they are close to the people and help in implementing these programmes. A team of District officers will be constituted to monitor the whole programme at all the blocks added DDC.
Among those who were attended meeting included ACD-Joginder Singh Jai, DSWO-Rafiq Ahmad, Chief Education Officer Reasi Ashok Kumar, Deputy CMO KC Dogra, ARTO-Rajesh Gupta, CDPO-Pritam Thappa, DIO Parvinder Kour, DPM Reasi, DMEPO Reasi.
