Jammu, Jan 14: In a unique effort Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized a special celebration to bring smiles for inmates of Jammu Red Cross Society (JRC) Home for Handicapped ,Udheywala on the auspicious occasion of Lohri. The function was inaugurated jointly by the special invitees namely Kalvinder Gupta, Choudhery Zulfikar, Sat Pal and Bali Bhagat (all MLAs) and former minister Shyam Lal Sharma. In their addresses special guests Kalvinder Gupta, Chowdhery Zulfikar and former minister Shyam Lal assured the executive body of JRC home for their full support and help from their development fund. They also exhorted the philanthropists from the society to come forward to be the part developement and resource creation to make the home equipped with state of arts gadgets. V K Magotra, Former Regional Director Directorate of Field Publicity and M L Dogra, Former Regional Director Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ,Government of India were also present on the occasion as Guests of Honour. Over 60 inmates including 20 deaf and dumb despite their physical disability presented scintillating cultural performance which left audience spell bound. Meanwhile troupe from BLSKS also staged a colorful cultural programme. Renowned artists Usha Handoo, K K Joshi, Hem Raj, Rajni Gupta, Neelam Gandotra, Gauri Lal, Shiv Kumar, Raju Bajgal, Vijay Kumar, Bodh Raj and Pummy performed various cultural acts. Earlier P C Kapoor, President ,JRC Home in his welcome address briefed the special guests and gathering about various projects under taken in hand for overall development of inmates for making them self reliant and to live the dignified life. Joginder Chhatarpal ,Secretary of the home and K K Joshi, Vice Chairman, BLSKS conducted the proceeding of the function. M L Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS and V K Magotra, Managing Director, BLSKS highlighted the importance of the Lohri Festival and also briefed gathering about the historic and traditional significance of Haran and Chhajja. The celebration culminated with bonfire with also the distribution of sweets among the inmates of home. |
