| Enraged villagers protest against PDD, torch effigy | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Jan.14: Angered over frequent curtailment and low power supply in Mohalla Talab village Chann Arorian, large number of villagers staged protest at Chann Arorian under the leadership of Goldi Sharma and KR Raina, Naib Sarpanch. The protestors also torched the symbolic effigy of the power department.
While addressing to protesters, KR Raina who led the protest said people are fed up to irregular power supply that affected lives of hundreds of villagers who are suffering for last few months but department deliberately ignored their suffering. The routine affairs got paralyzed and village has plunged into darkness, he added. Another protester, Goldi Sharma, alleged on PDD for not having replaced the electric transformer installed near village pond which could even turn fatal during rains.
The protesters appealed Governor to review the mal-functioning of PDD which is allegedly indulged in corruption and brushing aside from its due responsibilities towards masses.
Bhola Nath Sharma, Baldev Raj, Suresh Mussla and many others also spoke on the occasion and alleged on PDD to ignore their sufferings.
Pertinent to mention here that power curtailment has been routine affair and people are facing power curtailment for over 20 hours a day. |
