Jammu, Jan 14: Continuing its drive against drug and narcotics smugglers, police today arrested two persons besides recovering approximately 17 kgs of Poppy straw (Bhukki) here on Wednesday.
"The accused have been identified namely as Gurmail Raj of Ludhiana and Kuldeep Singh of Gurdaspur, Punjab, police sources said.
As per Police reports, Bus Stand Police led by SHO Bushan Manhas, based on suspicion intercepted two youths and subjected them for thorough frisking and search of their belongings. During frisking and search, the police recovered about 17 Kg Poppy Straw from their possession," police said.
Sources said that the duo was waiting for the departure of the SRTC bus for their onward journey to Punjab, when the duo was intercepted by police and which recovered the consignment of contraband."
Meanwhile a case stands registered at concerned Police Station and the duo has been booked under NDPS Act while further investigations are on. |
