SSP vigilance inaugurates workshop on 'cyber crime' at SKPA | | | Udhampur, Jan 20: In order to acquaint the police officers of J&K police with their new role and responsibility and to aware and sensitize them with challenges faced by officers at the cutting edge level- a week long workshop on cyber crime was organized at at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur today . The workshop was aimed to develop awareness about Computer, Networking, Social Media and Cloud Computing, to understand the implications of the Cyber Crime and legal measures to counter the same besides to understand basics of Cyber Forensics & Standard Operating Procedures for Investigation of Cyber Crimes. The workshop was inaugurated by Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vigilance MY Kichloo who presided over the event. In his inaugural address, SSP (Vigilance) Kichloo said that cyber crime can broadly be defined as criminal activity involving an information technology infrastructure, including illegal access (unauthorized access), illegal interception (by technical means of non-public transmissions of computer data to, from or within a computer system), data interference (unauthorized damaging, deletion, deterioration, alteration or suppression of computer data), systems interference (interfering with the functioning of a computer system by inputting, transmitting, damaging, deleting, deteriorating, altering or suppressing computer data), misuse of devices, forgery (ID theft), and electronic fraud. He also narrated how the cyber fraudsters are looting common masses by taking their ATM pin numbers and about the modus operandi being used for duping them. Special invitee also told about role of police in curbing such crime. |
