AJKPWA hails no hike in rail fare | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 26 : All J&K Passengers' Welfare Association (AJKPWA) has hailed no hike in railway fare in the Railway budget presented by the Union Railway Minister in the Parliament, today. In a press statement issued by its president, RC Sharma lauded the Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu for putting his all efforts not to burden the commuters further in the present day, when people are suffering due to soaring prices of all commodities. He said that the increase in the provision of lower berth to the pregnant ladies and senior citizens in the railway coaches is another welcome step in the proposed budget. Hailing the provision of CCTVs in the ladies compartment, Sharma urged the Union Railway Minister to extend CCTVs facility in every coach as pre-requirement in view of spurt in the militancy and burglaries in the present times, as people feel insecure during the railway travel. Demanding the medical facilities in every train and at every Railway Station, Sharma said that proposed budget lacks the vital medical facility especially in the long route trains as it has been noticed that people suffered for want of medical assistance during their railway journey. Launching a scathing attack on the Union Railway Minister for deleting the existing proposal for Jammu-Poonch railway link, Sharma said that people of state were having many hopes from this railway budget for keeping funds to execute the Jammu - Poonch railway link but budget proposal has badly disappointed the entire state. Sharma urged the Prime Minister of India to consider the revival of the proposal providing rail link to Jammu-Poonch in the present railway budget. Mentioning about the filth and dirtiness in the railway coaches & railway stations, Sharma urged the Union Railway Minister to pay special attention on the subject in view of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' launched by the Prime Minister. |
