| Partap submits memorandum of demands to Div Com, DC Jammu | | | Jammu, Feb 26 :A delegation of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists and locals led by State Secretary, Partap Singh Jamwal today called on Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ajit Kumar Sahu and submitted him a memorandum of demands regarding reviving the historic Nagbani Mela.Partap Singh demanded popularizing the historic Nagbani Mela started from the time of his Highness Maharaja Hari Singh and participation of various government departments to boost the economy of the locals of the area.
In his demand submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Partap further said that participation of Agriculture Department should be ensured to further boost up the agro based economy of the state.
He further demanded immediate repair of roads leading to the historic Nag Devta temple and infrastructure should be revived on priority for massive participation of different stake holders in the ancient Mela.He further rued that despite a Cabinet Minister from the constituency in the precedent governments, authorities remained fail to provide electricity and other basic amenities en-route Nagbani temple.He said that if tourism department put focus there, the place can be put on tourism map and can increase the economy of locals as well as the government exchequer.He further demanded that the importance of the mela should be highlighted through various media while traditional products should be place there for public display during the mela.
Enough security cover should be provided to people during the mela and arrangements for free medical camps should be ensured there through NGOs.Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ajit Kumar gave a patient hearing to delegation and promise them to forward their demands to higher authorities for necessary action. |
