| Protesters block NH1A, seek restoration of water supply | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Feb 26: Peeved over malfunctioning of Public Health Engineering (PHE), people hailing from Hamirpur, Tehsil Marheen today blocked National Highway 1A for half an hour and registered their protest against PHE officials.
The protest was led by Ram Lal, Panch of Panchayat Hamirpur where huge number of people hailing from village accompanied him and demanded immediate restoration of Drinking Water supply in the village. While addressing the protesters, Ram Lal informed that the electric motor of PHE tube well got out of order few days back but after apprising the sufferings to concern authority nothing has been done till date. He further informed that People hailing from Hamirpur have been deprived off water supply for 2 weeks but nobody from department took initiative to repair or replace the electric motor.
Geeta Rani said shortage of Water supply affected not only Hamirpur but also other adjoining villages. She sought immediate restoration of drinking water supply. The PHE, Mechanical wing, immediately restored water supply in the village that pacified the protesters who then allowed the vehicles to ply. |
