srinagar, Feb 27:A moderate-intensity earthquake jolted Kashmir on Friday although no loss of life or property has been reported so far.
The earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred at 3.29 a.m. today (Friday), MeT sources said.
They said the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Pakistan region.
Kashmir is situated in an earthquake prone region where temblors have caused devastation in the past.
In October 2005, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale killed over 40,000 people on the two sides of Jammu and Kashmir. |
