Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 28 : Perturbed over raw deal given to Kashmiri Pandits and POJK refugees by the BJP after not considering any member of these two categories of refugees for a Cabinet berth or election to State Legislature.
The voice has been raised by none other than the president of BJP Muslim Morcha and senior leader Mushtaq Noorabadi who expressed his displeasure over the Government's reported move not to consider any member from these two categories of refugees for a ministerial berth in the PDP -BJP government taking oath at Jammu tomorrow. Noorabadi in his statement said that BJP has always championed for the cause of refugees and right from partition it raised voice for the cause of West Pak and POJK refugees. Later after the mass exodus of Pandits from Valley in 1989-90 it raised voice in support of the hapless Pandits who were forced to flee from Valley on gun point. The Party raised their problems right from the mass migration of Pandits from Valley and advocated for their cause.
He said all the categories of refugees were looking towards BJP with a hope that Party after coming to power will pay first and foremost attention in addressing their problems and giving them their due. However it appears that BJP too ahs ignored these two categories of refugees as the Party did not consider any member from them for a ministerial berth or election to Upper House.
Noorabadi said that the BJP should give representation in the Assembly to a woman from these two categories instead of selecting any woman from Valley. This will send a good message among these categories of refugees, he added.
Meanwhile Kashmiri Pandit Conference has also shown its concern over the negative attitude of BJP towards the Pandits. In a statement issued from Union Capital today Kashmiri said that BJP is giving the impression that Pandits need nothing else than enhancement of cash relief while no attention has been paid to punish the forces responsible for community's genocide.
Besides the BJP's dilution on Abrogation of Article 370 which is a core issue for the Pandits and which was the main cause of their displacement has been a cause of concern. The double standards of the Party have hurt the sentiments of the nationalist forces in the State, he added.
He ridiculed BJP leadership for saying that the dialogue process with Pandits is continuing on their return and rehabilitation in Valley while no community leader ahs been consulted on this issue since formation of Narindera Modi Government over nine months back. Kashmiri said no return formula which ignores the geo-political aspirations of Pandits will be acceptable nor the Pandits will accept any surrender on citizenship rights to West Pak refugees and AFSPA.
