Anti-Fidayeen Squad completes first successful mission | | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 21: First of its kind, Anti Fidayeen Squad of Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved its first success by flushing out terrorists from Rajbagh police station in Kathua without any loss to their team. As the team of Anti-Fidayeen Squad took charge of the operation, after that no lives of civilians or policemen were lost till the operation ended. As they Anti-Fidayeen Squad started the operation they used Room Interception technique and killed the terrorist who was hiding in a room. "This squad was under consideration for the last one year and the initiative was taken up by ADGP-SM Sahai and nowthis squad completed the first successful mission. "Members of this anti-fidayeen squad have been trained in Haryana under rigorous conditions have been imparted with room interception techniques, besides rescuing people", said a source. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, SM Sahai said that technique of Room Interception was developed with the past experience of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Taral police Training Centre. The squad comprised of 70 members, headed by the officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police. There are three Anti Fidayeen squads in Kashmir region. All the cops of the Anti-Fidayeen squad had undergone a rigorous and hard training with new techniques. A senior police official said that principal strategy of these Fidayeen attacks is an initial attack by a few men would target the gates or perimeter of security cordons, inviting a heavy response from the security forces. Using this as a diversion, another group would sneak inside the building, with an objective to take over a key location or building for temporary period and inflict heavy damage and this squad is equipped with all the techniques to tackle their strategies. In-charge Anti-Fidayeen Squad, SP Dushyant Sharma said that cops of the Anti-Fidayeen Squad are well equipped, well trained and have high fitness level. He said that all undergo special exercises on routine basis to keep themselves physically and mentally fit. |
