After Samba, Kathua terror attacks, security tightened in Rajouri, Poonch | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 21: Security has been beefed up in Rajouri and Poonch districts after fidayeen attacks on police and army installations in Samba and Kathua areas of Jammu. Talking to local media persons here, A K Atri, DIG (Rajouri-Poonch range) said that security in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch had been tightened after the Kathua and Samba terror attacks. He said, "All the known infiltration routes in the two districts had been sealed and area domination by the security forces as well as Special Operation Group (SOG) of J&K police is going on". He said that in wake of two fidayeen attacks in Kathua and Samba districts, security had been beefed up in the twin border districts as the chances of infiltration attempts could not be ruled out. "Though the already placed security arrangements are enough to meet any challenge from across the border, more measures have been taken to ensure peace in the area and to thwart any nefarious attempt of anti-social elements" he added. Atri said special nakas on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch road had been set up and all the police posts and police stations had been asked to remain alert and keep an eye on any suspicious movements in their areas of operation. He appealed to the people to act as eyes and ears of police and inform them in case they came across any suspicious movement. He, however, denied any suspicious movement at present in the two districts. |
