Asia's largest tulip garden will bloom next month, only orange visible | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 22: Despite heavy rain, snow and chilly conditions during the past three weeks, the Asia's largest tulip garden at the foot of Zabarwan hills, overlooking the world famous Dal Lake will be in full bloom if weather remain dry. This year so far only orange colour tulips have come out while others are still progressing to be ready in the first week of April if everything, particularly weather remains favourable. Due to heavy rain last year, tulips in more than 70clours, which were in full bloom , got affected. A correspondent who visited the garden saw gardeners busy watering tulips in the garden, where only orange colour tulips could be seen. Lakhs of other tulips in more than 70 colours are still developing despite heavy rain and snow this month. If weather will remain dry and warm, majority tulips will bloom in the first week of next month, the gardeners said. They said the garden will be thrown open for public once majority of tulips will come out. However, there is a forecast for more rain and snow on March 24, they said. They said tourists from different parts of the Country, locals and foreign tourists are visiting the garden. Several film units from South and Bollywood also shoot some film songs in the garden which has more than 70 varieties. However, due to snow and chill weather conditions, tulips developed very late and the garden was closed early after heavy rains damage them (tulips). |
