Hospital medicines being sold in medical shops | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Jammu, Mar 22 : The medicines, which are supposed to be given to patients free of cost in the district hospital here, are allegedly being sold in chemist shops in the town. A patient from Dool was admitted today in District Hospital Kishtwar who was asked by the doctors to be purchase medicines from outside. The attendant of the patient bought the medicines from a medical shop and showed them to the doctor who was surprised to find "Not for sale--- hospital supply" clearly written on them. After knowing about it, the relatives of the patient immediately rushed to the medical shop and created hue and cry over the issue. A large number of the people also assembled outside the medical shop. As per the people, the matter was also brought to the notice of the hospital authorities and local health officers, but added that after the intervention of some middlemen, the matter was put under carpet. Some of the senior police officers after hearing about the matter also rushed to the medical shop and carried out searches but the chemist had by then managed to hide the hospital medicines. When contacted, some senior police officers confirmed the report and added that police could not act without the complaint. They said that the police also reached out to the person who had purchased the hospital supply medicines from private medical shop but he refused to register any complaint. "As and when we receive any complaint--- police will act under rule" said a senior police officer and added that without public support police cannot erode such crimes from the society. He said that police were still hopeful that complainant will come forward with his complaint so that the action against guilty persons could be initiated under law. |
