Training programme on seed production organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 22: Sixth one day training programme on seed production organized at village Chang, block Vijaypur, district Samba, under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology. Chief Scientist from SKUAST-J Dr. BS Jamwal addressed the farmers about the importance of seed production and higher returns from this programme for the farmers. He advised the farmers to spare some portion of land for seed production technology, where in there is no problem of varietal admixture due to its reproduction behavior in nature but it gets mechanically mixed due to few fault at the level of farmers, for which he gave advisory at length in his address. Another scientist from SKUAST-J Dr. Rajeev Bharat stressed on drainage of excess water from wheat field so as to minimize the losses in wheat yield due to water logging. He also stressed on adoption of modern techniques and methods of crop production, composting and regular soil testing. Deputy Project Director (ATMA), Ashok Gupta while interacting with the participants of the on Farm School, aware the farmers practically regarding identification of store grain pest including rats. He further advised the farmers to keep themselves alert and adopt all precautionary measures while storing the food grains in their storage. |
