Students in visitors' gallery dumb founded by Legislators' conduct | Education Minister in tears of regret | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 27: Disappointed and disenchanted by the outrageous behaviour of the legislators in the state legislative assembly, students of Mubarak Mandi Higher Secondary School and Ranbir Higher Secondary School who came to the visitors' gallery of the august House Friday would like to erase the memories of their visit as early as possible. While students left the house in great disgust, the minister for education Naeem Akhtar, on whose invite these students had visited the LA to watch its proceedings, was left in tears of regret and remorse over the behaviour of his colleagues. Students were particularly disappointed by the Former CM Omar Abdullah for his failure to prevail upon his party MLAs to curb them from their unwarranted behaviour. "Omar sir must have intervened and stopped his MLAs from creating chaos in the House," said Atibha Anand, 11th class student of Mubarak Mandi Higher Secondary School. Atibha's friend Ashi Dogra said that she was disappointed over the way politicians behave inside the Assembly, adding that she had read about the Assembly proceedings, but got to witness it today. "What happen today, I don't want to remember---it was a bad experience" said Ashi Dogra. Another student Sanjay Singh of Ranbir Higher Secondary School said that tearing of papers and beating of tables is not a way to protest. He hoped that law makers introspected on their own behaviour before making laws for the masses. Meanwhile, Education Minister Naeem Akther was highly moved by the disappointment to the students who came to the House with great hope. "I feel ashamed today; I invited them to convey our plans about modernization of Education System in the state" said Naeem Akther as tears rolled down his cheeks. He said that despite repeated request to Omar Abdullah, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Nawang Rigzin Zora and others to restrain, they did not pay any heed to the presence of children in the house who had come to know about the policies of the government with regards to its education policy. "What happens today should not have happened--- this will give bad impression about us (politicians) to the young generation" said Akther. Later Akther apologized to the students and promised them to visit their schools. He urged the students to forget what they witnessed today inside the Assembly. |
