| Nervous BJP desperate to foil Jammu Bandh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: The nervous BJP is likely to use all official and political machinery to thwart the Jammu bandh call given by various parties on Friday to seek AIIMS for Jammu region.
Sources told Early Times the BJP is making every possible effort to seek assurance from the businessmen to open their shops in the Jammu city and is assuring them all kind of security.
If Jammu city, considered to be bastion of BJP, observes the shutdown on Fridayit would prove BJP has lost its base within its citadel.
BJP as an opposition, had been active in the city and used it is a platform to oppose the government and Kashmir centric parties. It has history of doing it.
But, now it can't oppose the government and can no more hold protests and dharans and burn effigies and raise slogans.
The party now fears that this space would be taken up the opposition parties especially the Congress which has a strong presence and network in the city.
If people observe shutdown on Friday it could come as rude shock to the party, which is preparing for the municipal and local bodies elections. The Congress is sensing opportunity to hit out at the BJP and AIIMS issue has come handy for the BJP and is using it to the hilt to damage the BJP's image as the guardian of the Jammu.
The nervous BJP made two ministers of state and Chief Minister tour the city to send the message that it is not playing second fiddle to PDP and he is himself supervising the development concerns of the Jammu and is doing so because of the BJP. |
