BJP’S NIGHTMARE : Jammu wakes to party’s betrayal , shuts down for AIIMS demand | | |
Jammu, Apr 24: Jammu today gave a befitting rejoinder to the Bharitya Janta party for its nonchalance since being in the coalition and ignoring the Jammu mandate. The Jammu bandh that turned out be most successful after the entire region came to a silent halt today is being seen as an awakening call given to the Jammu party that is riding success on the mandate of the people of Jammu and have allegedly forgotten them and their aspirations after tasting the success. Though the bandh call was on the discrimination being meted out to Jammu region by ‘hijacking’ its earned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) by the Kashmir centric dispensation, the Jammu’s true was well justified by the ‘total bandh’ today that its own party (BJP) being in the government remained mute spectator to hue and cry of people of Jammu. It is pertinent to mention here that since out of the government, it used to be BJP in the Jammu that took up the issues of discrimination with Jammu and protested, burnt effigies and threatened bandh call that used to be successful, though the erstwhile governments seldom laid down to their demands. The call for AIIMS to be established in Jammu only to was BJP’s call when not in government and it had treated to take the extreme of the steps if government did any discrimination on it. Now, since in government, while the people of Jammu seemingly disoriented after their party’s inclusion in the government, they had started getting the sense that their party has started to tread the lines of alienation from its people while enjoying cool government patronage in the ministry. However, today’s bandh call must have given them first reason to understand that the annoyed people of Jammu now can go to any extent, even to nail down BJP’s further claims on them and even can dismiss it as the party of Jammu. Although the party may not seem to be feeling the heat as for now, but today’s Jammu call must have sent a shrill of chill down its spine in hot summers. If the party and its ministerial cadre in the coalition government fail to read between the lines , the critical political analysts and the observers are of strong opinion that time may not be far ahead when the party would come square back to its 2002-2008 period.
